Green Deal Circular

Updated: Apr 26, 2019

Together with 230 other participating public and private organizations, 'Beli Centro' will kick off the Green Deal Circular Building on 22 February. With this we show our climate commitment, not only in words, but also in concrete action!
More than 60% of our CO2 emissions are related to the materials we use. The circular economy offers solutions to reduce that impact. For the construction sector, this means reuse and maximum high-quality recycling of building materials, focus on change-oriented building, optimal use of space and extending the lifespan of buildings and their materials, etc.

To have a circular economy in Flanders by 2050, in which raw material cycles are closed, we need other products, services and revenue models. Close cooperation between companies, governments, knowledge institutions and citizens can achieve this. That is why the Flemish Minister for Environment, Nature and Agriculture, Koen Van den Heuvel, is launching this Green Deal Circular Building together with Flanders Circular, the Flemish Construction Confederation (VCB) and OVAM.

'Beli Centro' is committed in this innovative learning network to share practical experiences with other construction companies, building material producers, local and regional authorities, private builders, researchers and other organizations. Until 2023 we set up experiments together, in this way test the circular principles in practice and uncover bottlenecks. A good lever for the circular economy in Flanders. Within this Green Deal, a multidisciplinary research group - Circular Building Experimental Garden - will also work on the levers that can eliminate these bottlenecks.
